Cognitive Coaching
One on One Personalized Coaching for the Mind!
1-ON-1 COGNITIVE COACHING SESSIONS
Fun, engaging coaching sessions are delivered by a certified cognitive coach. Each session is customized to the client’s current level of cognition while being challenging without overwhelming. Every session focuses on 5 key areas of cognition and monthly assessment reports on the clients progress and engagement levels are provided to family and provide insightful feedback. In addition to mental stimulation, our goal is to provide meaningful engagement, restore lost confidence, and show we value each client as an individual with a unique personality. “Dementia changes relationships, it doesn’t end them!” Fit Minds®
COGNITIVE COACHING RESEARCH
Our cognitive coaching program extends beyond rote memorization tasks or doing the same games repeatedly. The program is based on research findings that validate the impact of regularly challenging people with novel content to help them maintain and even possibly improve their cognitive ability. Many studies show when used as a wellness/preventative program, cognitive stimulation may reduce the risk of developing dementia.
WHERE DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Cognitive coaches host sessions in our office at 30 Peck Rd, Building 2, Suite 2102 Torrington CT 06790. We know clients tend to learn best in an environment they are familiar with – so we can also travel to our clients whether they are at home, in an assisted living facility, a nursing home, or a memory care center for an extra fee.
GROUP COACHING SESSIONS
Fit Minds® has created engaging, research-backed content designed for seniors in a group setting. Our premier group sessions are not dementia group therapy; they are interactive classes designed for independent seniors, as well as those in assisted living or memory care communities. Each one-hour presentation includes exercises that target five
key areas of cognition, along with information on brain health and aging well.
COGNITIVE COACHING RESEARCH
Studies on cognitive function suggest that mental stimulation may help maintain and even improve cognitive ability as people grow older. With continued research, we have found when people with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease have the right kind of engaging challenges, it may help stabilize their cognitive function. As the impact of group cognitive stimulation therapy continues to be explored, more senior living communities are seeking ways to offer their residents challenging, appropriate programming that can benefit their cognitive abilities.
WHERE DO THE GROUP SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
We deliver signature content to independent, assisted living and memory care communities through our certified cognitive coaches.
Using the Fit Minds Cognitive Coaching platform provides research-supported, person-centered training for the mind. Through personalized cognitive assessments, each person is provided with insight into their brain health and a plan to improve the aging experience.
How Do You Clear COVID Brain Fog? Many individuals report new or troubling cognitive issues that may be related to COVID brain fog should consult a doctor immediately in order to prevent worsening or permanent damage. Generally speaking, doctors are treating brain fog like a typical head injury, advising patients to get more sleep and more recovery. Cognitive Brain Stimulation sessions can help clear the fog, as well as physical activity and enriching experiences like listening to music and light socializing. Patience is the key. So far, there are no signs that COVID brain fog is permanent.
